how to remove red, candle wax dye from carpet?

I have removed the wax from the carpet, but I am left with the red dye color. What do I use, since it is from an oil product and the carpet is "probably" synthetic.

Thank you, Kathie

removing dye from carpet

Kathie;

Congratulations on removing the wax part of the stain. Now the dye part has to be addressed.

As you may know, the dye is the more difficult part of the stain to remove. To remove a man made dye like that found in most was products, a "reducing bleach" needs to be utilized.

As explained in the article found at how to remove candle wax, the reducing bleach is NOT a chlorine bleach but a "color safe" bleach that works by removing oxygen from the dye.

Due to the risk of removing color from the carpet (in addition to the dye stain), the removal of a dye stain with a reducing bleach is best performed by a professional carpet cleaner.

Unfortunately, there is not an over the counter type product for the do it yourself person, so once again the best answer is to consult a professional
